It’s not easy keeping up a regular exercise programme so you can never have to many tips to keep you moving in the right direction.

Fitness Tip 1
Listen to your body. It does not matter whether you are an experienced exerciser or a raw beginner, everyone from time to time can over do it. There are many symptoms of doing too much, such as:
a) A feeling of nausea
b) Dizziness
c) Cold sweat
d) Chest pains
e) Shortness of breath
f) Sharp muscle pain

It could be that you have simply pushed yourself too hard or that the exercise itself is not right for you or you need to polish up you technique. However if you do experience any of the above you must stop exercising immediately and if the symptoms persist, see your doctor.

Fitness Tip 2
There is no exercise programme or diet that works for everyone. We are all different and what works for your friend does not mean that it will work for you. You must consider things like age, body weight, exercise experience and general health then design your routine around these specifics.

Fitness Tip 3
Be patient and consistent. Do not expect immediate results from your exercise programme or diet, it can take up to four weeks before you see and feel the changes. It is very easy to get disheartened, particularly if you are continually jumping on the scales or eyeing yourself in the mirror. It is at this time that you can find yourself throwing in the towel and going back to your old lifestyle, which can be a disaster as you may put on more weight than you had before and feel worse than ever. In the beginning ignore the possible short term outcome and focus on sticking with it and before you know it those changes you desire will be there to see and feel.

Fitness Tip 4
Try to do a bit of exercise every day than one mammoth session once a week, which can be dangerous if you have been sedentary all week. Think of the number of businessmen who have had heart attacks on squash courts. By training small amount daily (20-30 minute sessions) you are constantly keeping your body fit and your muscle toned and allowing your body to gently build up its strength and stamina.

The idea is to make your fitness and diet regime part of your life and this is the true way to good health and longevity.
